Join a class with a fabulous instructor or work at your own pace through independent study. Our 10–11 week sessional classes are open to anyone 15 and older, from complete beginners to those looking to expand their clay skills. Each session includes generous practice hours in our studio so you can reinforce what you learn.
Projects are limited to 15” in any direction. We encourage consistent attendance—sessions move quickly, and there are no make-up classes. However, you can always use your practice time to connect with classmates and instructors to build on what you have learned.
All participants use Clay Q&A, our online communication hub for kiln schedules, asking questions, studio events, deadlines, resources, and community Q&A.

Taxes for Artists: A Practical Guide
Taxes for Artists: A Practical Guide
Tired of dreading tax season? Join CPA Valerie Moseley for a down-to-earth, artist-focused look at how to manage your creative income — from commissions and grants to gallery sales and teaching gigs. Over two days, you’ll get clear on what you owe, what you can deduct, and how to keep your records in order without losing your creative spark. Walk away with fresh knowledge, handouts, and confidence to make tax time a whole lot less taxing.
Join us for a two-day workshop designed specifically for artists who want to understand their tax responsibilities better and make informed financial decisions. Led by Valerie Moseley, CPA — a seasoned accountant who specializes in helping creative professionals — this workshop will break down what artists need to know about both Federal and Washington State (Business & Occupation Tax / Sales Tax).
Through clear explanations, real-world examples, and ample opportunities for questions, Valerie will guide participants through the essentials of filing, deductions, and record-keeping as they relate to art-based income for those operating as sole proprietors or LLCs.
Registered participants will be asked a few questions to help tailor the sessions to your unique creative practice — whether you earn income through commissions, grants, direct sales, teaching, or gallery representation. This will ensure that examples and guidance are relevant to a range of artistic professions and business models. These questions will come as a Google Survey after you have fully registered.
Schedule:
Day 1 (Sunday, Jan 11, 12–4 PM): Federal Taxes for Artists (4 hours)
Day 2 (Sunday, Jan 18, 12–3 PM): Q&A about Federal Taxes, followed by Washington State Taxes & B&O (3 hours)
The registration fee covers both days. Purchasing a single day is not an option
Instruction will be verbal, supported by slides on a large screen, with both paper and digital handouts provided.
Details:
