🟠 During this class, you’ll:

Try clay with guidance from one of our experienced instructors! Lessons can focus on wheel throwing, handbuilding, or glazing. We provide all tools, up to 5 lbs of clay per person, and step-by-step instructions. Each session includes a brief studio tour, demo, hands-on work, and cleanup.

• Get a quick studio tour and clay demo from one of our instructors (about 15-30 minutes)

• Try out the techniques and make your own clay pieces

• Wrap up with 15 minutes of clean-up at the end

🟠 For each class below, your registration includes:

• Bisque and glaze firing of two pieces, max 5” in size

• Glazing by our staff in one color per piece, of your glaze choice from the RCC glaze selection

• Finished work available for pick-up 2–4 weeks later (we’ll notify you when it’s ready)

🟠 Things to bring:

• Bring an apron or towel. Tools & clay provided.

Please note: Clay is a natural material and sometimes cracks or breaks in the kiln. Our goal is to ensure you have a fun experience, and it’s great if you’re able to come away with a finished product. If your piece doesn’t survive firing, we’ll offer to replace it with a similar item made by an instructor in your chosen glaze.

Your instructor will guide you through the basics of how to make a cup and a bowl.

Your instructor will show how to work with clay slabs, and will try out a small bowl and plate.

Finishing your Pieces

Each participant may keep up to 2 pieces, with one studio glaze per piece. Staff will glaze and fire them with your selected glaze, then notify you by email when they are ready (4–6 weeks). Please pick up within 2 weeks or pieces will be discarded.

Want to glaze your own? Book a follow-up lesson with an instructor to use our full range of glazes—pieces will be fired and ready for pickup in the same timeframe.

Cancellation Policy

Cancellations must be made via email to info@raincityclay.com
If you want to cancel your class, you may request a refund based on the bullet points below. Then you may rebook yourself for a class that fits better into your schedule.

Last-minute cancellations in classes are difficult to fill - please double-check your schedule before committing to an event. Refunds take several business days to process from the date we receive the email request.

• 100% of tuition (less a $15 processing fee) will be refunded if a student elects to drop a class no later than 10 days before the day of the first class meeting.

• 80% of tuition (less a $15 processing fee) will be refunded if a student drops a class within 7 days before the first class meeting.

• 50% of tuition (less a $15 processing fee) will be refunded if a student drops a class within 3 days before the first class meeting.

• 0% of tuition is refunded if cancellation is made within two days of class for any reason except for documented medical emergencies. (providing a doctor's note). There are no other exceptions to this policy.

• After this period, if a student elects to drop a class or transfer, tuition will NOT be refunded for any reason except for documented medical emergencies. (providing a doctor's note). There are no other exceptions to this policy.

• No refunds or credit will be given for missed classes. Students currently enrolled in 10-week classes may practice during open studio time to build skills even if a class is missed. One-day clay events and lessons do not come with open studio time.

• Let us know ASAP if you cannot make it to your class or lesson. We do not refund no-call no-shows, except in case of medical emergency with a doctor’s note. In the event of your late arrival, your event will not be extended past the original booked time. In the event of a no-show, your instructor will call to check in after 20 minutes. If no call or contact, the lesson is void. You are welcome to book a new lesson for another date if you would like to try again.

• We reserve the right to cancel a class or workshop up to 3 days in advance of the first class due to insufficient enrollment. If a class is canceled, you will be offered the option of another class or a full refund.

• For some reason, should the studio have an unforeseen need to reschedule the class, you will be notified and given the option to take a class at a later date or receive a refund. Examples of these include power outage, covid flare up, or force majeure.

A minimum of 9 participants is required to run the class. If a class does not meet this, we will give advanced notice about any cancellations and a refund will be issued.
