About the Rain City Clay House Airbnb

Welcome to Rain City Clay House, a cozy 1940s rambler in Arbor Heights, a quiet, charming neighborhood in southwest Seattle.

This is a great home base for exploring Seattle and the Salish Sea. You're close to beaches, parks, waterfront trails, the Fauntleroy ferry to Vashon Island, and the restaurants and shops of West Seattle and White Center. Downtown Seattle, Georgetown, and other city neighborhoods are an easy trip away.

Spend the day exploring the city, wandering along the water, taking a ferry across the Sound, or discovering one of the many parks and beaches nearby. Then come home to a quiet neighborhood, cook dinner, relax by the fireplace, and settle into your own comfortable space.

The house is filled with handmade pottery and a few other creative touches—and it happens to share a wall with Rain City Clay, a small community ceramics studio. If you're interested in clay, you can even add a pottery experience to your visit. (To the Airbnb listing)

The space

Rain City Clay House is a private, single-level two-bedroom home with its own entrance, private front patio, living room, dining area, full kitchen, bathroom, and laundry.

The living room is comfortable and relaxed, with a gas fireplace (main heat source), board games, books, and handmade ceramics. The kitchen is well equipped for cooking, with a gas range, refrigerator, dishwasher, microwave, coffee maker, toaster, and plenty of dishes and cookware.

There's also an outdoor gas grill and a small four-person patio table—nice for morning coffee or dinner outside when the Seattle weather cooperates.

The neighborhood

Arbor Heights is a residential West Seattle neighborhood where you'll get a taste of everyday Seattle life while staying close to the water.

Puget Sound (a mile away) is part of the larger Salish Sea, which stretches from the waters of British Columbia south through Washington’s inland waterways. Head to nearby beaches and waterfront parks, walk the shoreline, watch the ferries and boats cross the Sound, or take the Fauntleroy ferry over to Vashon Island for an easy day trip.

Lincoln Park is nearby, with wooded paths, open lawns, beaches, and long stretches of waterfront to wander. The park has wonderful playgrounds and day-use picnic areas.

West Seattle and White Center offer plenty of restaurants, coffee shops, bakeries, and places to explore. Browse the printed guide in the AIB BnB for a few of our favorites.

And when you're ready for the city, Seattle's downtown and other neighborhoods are easily accessible by car or bus. A bus stop is half a block away.

Guest access

You'll have the entire house and private front patio to yourself.

There is one designated parking space directly in front of the house for Airbnb guests. Additional neighborhood parking is generally available.

You'll enter through the gate on the south side of the property, walk through the private patio, and go up three steps to the front door.

A little something extra

The house shares a wall with Rain City Clay, a working community ceramics studio. You'll notice a little of that creative energy around the house, from the handmade dishes to the artwork and pottery.

If you've always wanted to try making something out of clay, you can book a class or experience during your stay. Or simply enjoy the pottery and leave the messy clay work to someone else! It’s best to book clay events several weeks in advance, as they often fill. Be sure to read the refund policy on the Rain City Clay Website before booking an event.
