Clay classes require some physical strength. Consider a one-time event if you are uncertain of your ability to participate.

Ten-week classes include generous practice hours outside of class. One-day classes are a great way to see what clay is all about and do not come with practice time outside of class.
Projects are limited to 15” in any direction. We encourage consistent attendance—there are no make-up classes. However, you may use your practice time to connect with classmates and instructors to build on what you have learned.
All sessional class participants use Clay Q&A, our online communication hub, for kiln schedules, asking questions, studio events, deadlines, and resources.
Level of Instruction:
Level One
A welcoming introduction to clay, with a focus on foundational throwing or handbuilding techniques. Demonstrations and projects are designed for beginners and those developing or building on new skills. We recommend taking Level One 2–4 times before moving into Level Two as you build confidence and a strong foundation.
Level Two
For students ready to build on foundational skills. Classes focus on developing the throwing or handbuilding skills needed to make forms up to 5" tall. Repeating Level Two classes is encouraged as you continue to develop control and consistency.
Level Three
For students with established intermediate clay skills. This level is a good fit after multiple Level One and Level Two classes. Projects may explore replication, larger forms, more demanding techniques, and intentional surface development. Level Three embraces increased complexity and scale, with skills that support making forms up to 8" tall.

RCC offers a welcoming community and full facilities for experienced potters and sculptors. Affiliates receive month-to-month, 24/7 studio access, including between regular sessions.
This is payment for your non-refundable $75 set-up fee.
A staff member will reach out by email within 3-5 days to set up an orientation. Email info@raincityclay.com if you have not heard back within the allotted time.
Membership Options
• $185 per month for a cubby and shelf space
• $210 per month for cubby, shelf, and extra storage space

As an Affiliate you receive
Storage: 12” x 12” personal cubby for tools and a shelf for work in progress.
Equipment & Tools: Access to wheels, extruder, slab roller, spray booth, studio glazes, and shared hand tools.
Firings: calendared with class bisque (Cone 06) and glaze (Cone 6) firings; These are listed on our in-house calendar. High-volume projects may require your assistance or additional fees.
Studio Access:
24/7 access to the basement space; the main classroom is available during open studio hours. Access to the main classroom is limited during studio breaks.Required Use of Clay Q&A: This is our communication hub! It hosts informational articles, videos, and Q&A feed.

Requirements for participation
Clay Experience: You will get the most out of this offering if you have had several ceramics classes.
Independent Work: This program is self-directed; staff are available for basic questions 9am–5pm. If you would like to gain skills or need hands-on help, individual lessons may be purchased and arranged.
Studio Practices: Must use in-house clay (including firings and glazes), keep projects under 15”, follow safety and community guidelines, and maintain clean-up habits.
Community: Foster a welcoming environment for fellow artists.
Communication: Actively participate in Clay Q&A for updates, questions, and sharing successes. This platform is where everyone may ask questions, communicate challenges, or celebrate success! All studio communication about kilns and studio flow are here.
FEES
$75 Initial Set up Fee (paid on website)
$185 Monthly Payment ($210 if you would like an extra storage cubby)

Payments are automatically withdrawn monthly on the date of your initial online registration.
Your timely payment holds your access to the studio and RCC Affiliate benefits.
You must give 5 days’ notice to cancel before a monthly renewal.
There are no refunds or prorations if you have paid for a month.
Cancel before your automatic payment if you want to stop your participation at RCC.We reserve the right to change Affiliate access or fees as needed, with notice.
$235 a month for Affiliate Plus membership (Includes a larger cubby as well as a turn-table storage area).
$75 Re-Set-Up Fee
If your recurring payment is canceled due to insufficient funds, or an expired or declined card, you will have to pay the setup fee again to retain your spot.
We do not pause recurring payments. If you would like to cancel your spot , you may do so, but you will need to pay the setup fee to restart as an Affiliate at RCC.

$155 per month for a cubby and shelf space
$170 per month for 2 cubbies and shelf space
