Come try clay with us! Individual lessons are for a first-time introduction to clay or to learn a more advanced technique. One of our fantastic instructors will guide you in a lesson on wheel throwing, hand building, or glazing – your choice.

We will match you with an instructor after you register and pay. Should one of our awesome instructors not be available on your selected date, we will rebook with you, or refund you.

The Basics:

Arrive a few minutes early to get settled and meet your instructor. You will receive a brief tour of the studio and talk through the basics of your lesson, and then jump into a demonstration given by your instructor! If you are interested in working on the wheel, your instructor will guide you through the basics of how to make a cup and a bowl. If you would like to learn how to handbuild, we’ll start with slabs and try out a small vase. Or you may focus on a more specialized form of your choosing. Please indicate what you are interested in learning below when scheduling.

We will supply basic tools, up to 5 pounds of clay per person, and as much guidance as possible! If you want to use more clay than this, it will be an added fee of $1 per pound over the initial 5 pounds.

Each lesson is $145 for an hour and a half, with the option to add up to five people for an additional $95 per person. This time period includes a brief studio tour, demonstrations, work time, and cleanup.

Students aged 5-15 must be accompanied by an attending adult for the duration of the lesson.

Finishing your Pieces

You may keep up to 2 pieces per person and select one glaze per piece. We will fire and glaze them for you. You will be notified via email when they are ready to be picked up, about 3-6 weeks after the date of your event. Please come to pick them up within two weeks of notice to retrieve them. Any pieces not picked up after two weeks will be discarded to make room for new work.

If you would like to glaze them yourself, you may pay for a second individual lesson and be taught how to glaze your work. Please schedule this lesson only after speaking with the instructor on the day of your first lesson. You will have access to all 15 of our in-house mixed glazes and be able to glaze them with the help of an instructor. We will fire them, and you will be notified via email when they are ready to be picked up. They must be picked up within two weeks.

We are currently operating as per King County’s guidelines, and masking is currently optional in the studio.
