About the Instructor:
Instructor: Rene Gutierrez (he/him)

Born in Mexico and raised in the southern U.S., I developed a rich cultural perspective that informs my art. Now, as a father to a toddler, I draw inspiration from his perspective, discovering the beauty in simplicity and play.

My work blends wheel-thrown pottery with sculptural elements, striving for a harmonious balance between form and function. This exploration allows me to convey themes of wonder and connection in my art. Parenthood has enriched my creative process, guiding me to create pieces that reflect both my heritage and the joys of family life. Ultimately, I aim to capture the essence of childhood curiosity and its impact on my artistic vision.
