Event Description
Let's get muddy! Join us for an event of exploring working on the potters wheel. This 2-hour session will show you the pottery-making basics in a laid back environment. This class is just for your teen. Parents or guardians may come back at pick-up time or wait outside the building. Parents or guardians will need to fill out the informational regarding child pick up upon registration.

The Nitty Gritty
The first 30 minutes will be focused on a studio tour, an intro to clay tools, and demonstrations on throwing a simple form. Then, the instructor(s) will come around to each participant and check in on their progress. The last 15 minutes of class time is reserved for clean-up. We want you to have a great time creating pottery no matter your skill level. However, please remember this is just an introduction to clay! We cannot guarantee high-quality results for any pottery made during the session. Our goal is to provide you with a great experience and an intro to clay!

We love it when everyone is able to take home a reminder of their Teen Clay experience. The $95 class fee includes instruction on throwing a basic pot, and we will fire up to two (2) of your creations in our kilns with a single glaze of your choice from our studio selection. Finished pottery is to be picked up at a later date. We will contact you with a specific date of pickup, usually 5-8 weeks after the date of your event.

Sometimes clay cracks or breaks in the kiln for a variety of reasons outside of our control. In the event that your piece(s) do not make it through the kiln firings for whatever reason, we will glaze a pot made by one of the instructors with your original glaze choice.

Rain City Clay is a close-knit community studio - we employ the honor system and trust that everyone takes home only the work that they have made. Please check the bottom of your pot to make sure it has your name and the date of your event on it.

Throwing pottery is difficult with long nails. The shorter the better! Come in comfy clothes are ok with getting dirty.

15 spaces available. Private parties may be arranged by request with a minimum of 9 participants. Email info@raincityclay.com to inquire.
