Terri's Tiles

Tiles by Terri Goodwin Surround the entrance to Rain City Clay

When you walk through the front door of Rain City Clay, a stunning display of handmade tiles welcomes you. Creativity and craftsmanship collide in these unique tiles handmade by local ceramic artist, Terri Goodwin. The commissioned work, curated by founder Deb Schwartzkopf, adds a unique touch to our studio, creating an atmosphere where art and community converge.

Terri Goodwin is the owner of Bright River Studio, a creative haven she founded in 2010 in West Seattle. Her journey as an independent artist has been marked by a profound passion for ceramics, tile, and mosaic, all inspired by the breathtaking landscapes of the Pacific Northwest.

Terri's artistic journey began with a BA in Design from UCLA, followed by a career as a graphic designer for small companies in the San Francisco Bay Area and Seattle. However, she says it was her transition to working with clay that truly set her on a path of creativity and experimentation.

Terri embeds her handmade tiles into concrete, which has proven to be an ideal way to showcase their interesting shapes and vibrant glazes.

What makes Terri's approach truly special is her connection to nature. She draws inspiration from the patterns of the Pacific Northwest, allowing her creative process to evolve through observations of the world around her. This connection to the natural world is evident in every piece she crafts, creating a harmonious blend of art and environment.

In the heart of West Seattle, Terri continues to make a mark with her unique pieces, leaving a persisting imprint on spaces and hearts alike. Through her dedication, creativity, and connection to nature, Terri Goodwin brings the beauty of handmade ceramics to life, one tile at a time.
